March
15th – 26th
Greetings, Bobcat Land! This is Amber Daub, principal of Hallsville Junior High, and I
am so happy to report to you this week! Here’s what we’re working on at the junior high:
Congratulations to our
Hallsville Middle School and Hallsville Junior High! They are the Academic UIL District 14-3A District
Champions! This is the first time in Hallsville ISD’s history that we have claimed this incredible
honor. We are so proud of our individual competitors, our UIL coaches, and our coordinators for this accomplishment.
Many hours of hard work and commitment have been dedicated to this goal. Please log on to our web
page to see each individual’s name and their awards as well as team awards.
March 15th – 19th is spring
break for Hallsville ISD. On behalf of all of our staff, we hope that everyone enjoys a restful break and
comes back ready to learn on Monday, March 22nd.
We will start off strong on Monday, March 22nd on a regular
schedule. Students will attend tutorials and will begin their intense focus on preparation for 8th
Grade Math and Reading TAKS coming up on April 6th and 7th. Our 8th grade
Math Team will begin a series of Math Academies on the 22nd. Selected students will attend math
instruction sessions from 3:30 to 5:00 on March 22nd, 25th, 29th, and April 1st.
We will also hold a session on Saturday, March 27th from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Parents,
be on the look out for an invitation for your child! This will be a pivotal component for many of our students,
and we don’t want them to miss out!
On Tuesday, March 23rd, we will administer the 7th Grade ELA Mock TAKS and the 8th
Grade Science Mock TAKS. This important day will give our teachers the data they need to determine who
needs intense instruction between now and their actual tests in the last week of April. We will remind
students and parents of what we need to do to be ready for that day – We know that spring break throws many of us for
a loop. Parents, please remember to ask your child about these tests on Monday, the 22nd.
They will have several reminders on that day.
We encourage students to bring lunch from home on the 23rd.
We will take a prediction count before leaving for spring break and will ask students to write down what they have
communicated to us in their planners. Parents, please check your child’s planners on Monday the 22nd
to see what they have indicated to us for the 23rd.
It’s a lot of dates, and we want you to be in the loop.
Please don’t hesitate to call (903) 668-5990, extension 2501 if you have any questions. We
are here to help!
With
all of that said, we have two track meets coming up during this same window of time. We want to be sure
that we take good care of our athletes during this time and that they get the best testing environment possible.
Our Ladycat track teams will take their assessments on Monday, March 22nd. Our Bobcat
track teams will take theirs on Tuesday with the rest of the student body. Since they have to leave early
that day, we will arrange for extra time on Wednesday the 23rd if they should need it. Good
luck to both teams at these meets – We know you’ll continue to do well and represent our campus in a phenomenal
way!
We
will follow our Meetings and More Schedule on Wednesday, March 24th. This means that students
will have social time first thing in the morning while teachers conduct meetings. The rest of the instructional
day will be the same with the same number of minutes as our regular schedule.
What an action-packed week at Hallsville Junior High!
I want to continue to emphasize the importance of attendance – Every day counts! Thank you
so much to our parents for helping us with this area. It takes a village at this age to get all of our
students in class every day.
That concludes the junior high announcement for spring break and the week following. Stay
tuned to Bobcat Radio and our web page for weekly announcements about these and other upcoming events.
